The European Commission selects two cybersecurity projects

Following the opening of a call for proposals under the European Interconnection Mechanism in July 2019, the European Commission selected today two projects aimed at strengthening European cybersecurity capacity and improving collaboration between EU countries in the fight against cyber threats and incidents.

A grant of 2 million euro will be awarded to a project to support the advancement of MeliCERTes, a network of computer security incident response teams (CSIRTs) in EU Member States, which respond to security incidents on networks and information systems. In this context, a consortium comprising computer security incident response and alert centres from Poland, Austria, Estonia and Luxembourg will work closely with the EU Cybersecurity Agency to develop and maintain the open platform that provides collaborative tools to support these teams across the EU.

The second project, with a budget of 1.5 million euro, will focus on cooperation mechanisms for information exchange and analysis centres (ISACs). It will create and develop at European level ISACs covering a range of essential services defined in the Network and Information Security Directive, in areas such as health, water, digital infrastructure and transport.
